Reading makes me Happy, Happy, Happy

One of my July goals was to read more often....the school year gets crazy and I can't read as much as I would like to.

I have always been a big reader and enjoyed reading. I love all genres but mainly mysteries and romance if I had to choose a specific genre. I am not a huge fan on non-fiction although I do like it and love learning from it.

I have finished 4 books so far this summer...but I have to say Gone Girl and The Language of Flowers was my favorite.

I have read:
  •  The Fault in our Stars...tear jerker.
  • Defending Jacob....didn't see that ending coming!
  • Gone Girl...OMG so good....leaves you on edge until the very last chapter!
  • The Language of Flowers...such a sweet story and you will never look at flowers the same way again.
I am currently reading The Last Original Wife and it pretty good so far. :-)

What is on your summer reading list? What should I read next?

Must Add to Summer Reading List

OMG...This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is broken up into 3 parts and each of them is better than the one before.

When I first started reading this book....I thought oh so predictable I had it all figured it out. WRONG

This books keeps you guessing until the very last chapter!

I can't wait for it to become a movie this Fall.

Summer Reading

I just finished reading The Fault in Our Stars.....it was a good, quick summer read. I had been wanting to read it since I saw the previews for the movie. Several people had recommended it to me also. I am a book snob in the summer. :-)

Things I loved about the book....
1) The relationship between the main characters (Gus and Hazel)
2) I loved that they traveled to Amsterdam
3) I thought it was neat that they got to meet her favorite author (who doesn't want to do that?)
4) I loved how in love Gus was with Hazel (using his wish on her and connecting with the author of her favorite book)

Things I didn't like...
1) I knew it was about cancer going into reading the novel....SPOILER ALERT (one of the main characters dies)
2) Peter Van Houten (what a joke) sad story and obliviously the book he wrote was about his daughter, but he never ended it. I sided with Hazel I would want my questions answered to.

I would definitely add this to my summer reading list if you haven't read it.

Next on my summer reading list is this book Gone Girl. It has also been recommended by several people to me. I love summer and getting to enjoy books and read for pleasure.

What is on your summer reading list? Any suggestions?

July Goals

HAPPY JULY

I think that writing down monthly goals keeps you on track and gives you a sense of accomplishment as your cross things off your list. :-) I am a person that makes a million to do lists just to cross things off of them.

GOAL #1
Read more....this month I am planning to read more. As a librarian at a local private school I read lots of children's books to keep kids engaged and excited about reading. Every since Fault Without Stars came out I have been wanting to read the book. #booksarebetterthanmovies

GOAL #2
Make my knee much stronger! In June I had ACL surgery and I have been working hard on regaining the strength in my knee. They choose to replace my ACL with my hamstring and OUCH it hurts!

GOAL #3
Enjoy time with family and friends!
GOAL ACCOMPLISHED....4th of July! We had Greg's parents and brother over for the 4th. We also invited our neighbors that are moving to Dallas later in the month. We had so much fun eating red, white and blue food and watching fireworks.

GOAL #4 Cook more at home
With ACL surgery I have lots of time at home. I want to meal plan and prepare meals for our family.

What are your JULY goals and how do your plan to accomplish them this year?! I hope everyone has a wonderful, long weekend and is having a great summer.
